Manual lymphatic drainage was pioneered in the 1930’s by the Danish physicians Drs. Emil and Estrid Vodder primarily for the treatment of chronic sinusitis and other immune disorders. In 1936, they introduced their techniques in Paris. After World War II, they returned to Copenhagen to teach other practitioners how to use this special therapy.
